yes. it looks like an extremely good option. bizarrely it's
competing directly against the A10 feature-for-feature. but, the one
thing it does have is a "guaranteed committment" roadmap / lifetime
from freescale.
so, that's why someone contacted us and asked for a quote to make an
EOMA-68 CPU Card using the iMX53 CPU (and some I/O Boards to match
it), even though it'll be relatively small quantities (4k per year)
for them.
i've passed on the quote to the engineering team that we're working
with: i should have more details available soon. if the client goes
for it we will have a 2nd EOMA-68 CPU Card available.
at the same time as the quote is passed over to the client i could
perhaps mention that there may be other uses and other people
interested in such a CPU Card, which would help bring the price down
for everyone.
also if there's anyone who would like to quote for supply of a base
gnu/linux Operating System for the client please do let me know.
