No! That is not true.
To redistribute their infringing distro gains you no rights under the
GNU GPL. Their violation occurs when they distribute it to you, and
your subsequent actions have no effect on it.
To redistribute their infringing distro merely means that you too violate
the GPL. You should not do that.
