SoC Allwinner A20 $8 (I assume only a bit more expensive than last year's A10 at $7) RAM chip $4 per 4 gigabit. (512 MB) x4 = $16. (Dram exchange) Flash 8GB $2 (dram exchange) Gigabit Ethernet PHY $4 (guesstimate based on old data) Intermediate total ($30)
Do you happen to know the price of the following:
Wifi+BT chip (it seems to have antenna on chip)
How much for ports? VGA HDMI TOSLI NK RJ45 2X USB PCB (board itself) headphones audio out MicroSD slot
Assembly work $4 ?
Cables Package
This will give us a very rough gross profit margin of Cubie.
alexey remember you have setup fees which don't change regardless of the size of the batch (factory-dependent), you have component handling and transportation fees, and you have "over-runs" on components. trays are say 900 per tray, if you buy 2,000 you have an over-run of 800. tape and reel is 2500 typically: if you buy 2,000 you have an over-run of 500, and it's just bad luck if you want 3,000. no, *nobody* will sell you part-reels: they get thrown away, storage and stock maintenance costs are not worth the effort.
then there is testing, handling, shipping, tax and more.

Why need to know this?
Some 25% of sell price in China or seller be writing cheques to customers.
If real CN factory, then about 15% but only if real sustained month on month volume is there to buy and manage large stock runs. Otherwise you be abusing factory facilities and running a non-sustainable operation at those profit levels.
In West it is 75% of shop display price or somebody in the supply chain be writing blank cheques to customers.
