ok, it's kinda cheating, as it's only 8 bits per pixel, but i managed to get a stable image at 1280x800 resolution, 60fps, on the micro-desktop base. yet to be determined is what's actually the limiting factor - i'm working with ICubeCorp to find out - it's either that the DDR3x16 RAM IC (which is actually a 1600mhz samsung x16 DDR3 chip) is being clocked at only 266mhz or that there is an internal bus which can't get memory fast enough when reading the current scan line/pixel at the framebuffer's memory.location..
all kinda fascinating. what i am speculating is that this 55nm chip could actually be run much faster than the reported 400mhz speed. a processor in 55nm theoretically should be able to achieve 600mhz comfortably, possibly even 800 and maybe 900 with a bit of luck. however that's a huge jump in power requirements and i don't think the power in (pins) have been designed to cope with that.
so... we shall see :)

anyway: i have one final thing to sort out, it's the LAN9512 which i slightly messed up, if i can show that there is a chance it can be corrected then i can add ithe EOMA68-IC3128 cpu card to the crowdfunding campaign. however i may just have to simply redo that circuit and find another $1600 from somewhere to get another run of samples done. i am reviewing beagleboard-xm and other circuits which use the LAN9512 to see what i can do.

If that cpu card would imply endorsement by the FSF I would assume it would be of value to the product and the campaign. Having suggested the current proposal to some friends the response was that for them to buy a board of relatively low performance, it would at least have to be supporting free software. The argument of buying into freedom with EOMA68 doesn't seem to cut it. Maybe others have got similar responses?
Is there any idea when the campaign will launch? I was considering contacting all website where the Improve, Spark Tablet or Vivaldi tablet were featured (Liliputing, Phoronix, Slashdot, Jupiter Broadcasting) since it would be a great follow-up on this previous story. Also for the updated story on e-waste tying into Phoneblocks or Fairphone and for similarly It could be positioned as the low-cost alternative to the Novena laptop, as I heard some complaints about the price during a conference.
Maybe putting up a community-marketing page for coordination would be a great way to make sure all mayor news outlets are target for the campaign.

well, a) the IC3128 has a compiler (i have the source now), android ported (i have the source now) and a qemu emulator (still waiting for the source on that) and *that's it*. so if you want anything else you are *literally* going to have to compile it from scratch. but b) the other one that's FSF-Endorseable is the ingenic JZ4775 card, and that _does_ have full GNU/Linux OSes including of course debian pre-compiled.
unfortunately however the current contract is finished so unless someone comes forward with the money to pay to have a prototype made up of the JZ4775 CPU Card it will remain unavailable.

yeah the novena has a lot of features including extremely high-end screen and an industrial-grade processor, and it's being made in small quantities. although people may believe the price is high it actually really isn't.
i want to wait until the pi-top is available and its CAD/CAM files released, then we make a modified version that takes an EOMA68 CPU Card.

I'd love that. Personally I'd be able to create a case myself, but I'm afraid of buying incompatible peripherals (screen, battery). Buying a kit would therefore be great option.

I've put up some initial content on the page. Seeing the list of websites having covered related products, there is a need to get some buzz going around the campaign in order to create similar or even greater reach. When some marketing-material is available (like a more elaborate landing page on crowdsupply) notifying the world about the news would be great.
I was thinking about creating some templates (or even just sentences) for contacting people about the project. In that regard I'd like to get information and feedback on the marketing message.
I've set apart the category of podcasts because it offers the opportunity of having interviews around the campaign (audio or video) which creates a lengthier time-frame for getting the message across.
More importantly it would be great if everyone could spare a minute to check the page for their known marketing channels and suggest the ones that are missing. Thanks in advance!
