That's very interesting. I registered at https://pod.ros-it.ch/ (no activity what so ever) and https://pod.4ray.co. On the latter pod I managed to forget my password. The pod has the usual form for entering your address in order to receive an email for changing you password but no email is ever delivered.
I guess it's a good idea to be very selective about which pod you choose. Perhaps the best would be to host your own...

Since about three years I am on pod.geraspora.de and until today I have NO SPAM at all.
I created a seperate Email-address which I only use with disaspora*, so I can see without doubt, if there is any spam. I will ask on diaspora* if others have the same experience as you.
On which pod did you registe?

The idea behind Diaspora is great. My personal experience with it is not. I registered accounts on two different pods, both on the uptime list (https://podupti.me/) with different email addresses and both addresses started getting massive ammounts of spam. Perhaps I have had bad luck, I don't know. Maybe I registered on bad pods. Do you have any clue Wolfgang?

To get an account is more than easy: You pick a pod, that is what they are called, register and off you go. You should pick a pod with a good uptime and a middle number of members, becuse the members should be distributed over the pods.
ok.
For you, installation should not be so complicated. There are debian-packges. Unfortunately I do not know if you could run into problems.
If you set up a pod, in my eyes it would make sense, that it would only be open for registration for people who have pledged or run the eoma68-card. If that pod would be part of the federation, public postings would reach the other pods.
oo that's a good idea.
