good tip arokux, found it.  iwlist scan works great.  have yet to get
it to connect because duh usb networking takes priority and kills
access to wicd-client.

 i'll try to set up the spare USB port as a keyboard/mouse port, then
i can actually log in at the LCD panel and play direct, woo!
