rrright.  i put a scope (£80 from maplin's 2 years ago... :) across
the ethernet tx+ line (i think) and it's clearly showing a "beat"
signal (carrier i presume).  i altered the picture, whacked up the
contrast so it's a little clearer.

this is *before* the ethernet socket (the one with the transformer).
if i plug in a cable and connect between the Tx+ and Tx- i get....
well it's practically nothing.

chris i've cut both R2 and R3 (they should not both have been added -
only one of them) - and it's the same story: a *really* faint
barely-visible carrier (through the RJ45).
