ok - with this design concept, where the EOMA-68 card is at the back
and is inserted left-right into a location that is approx 10 to 12mm
high when the rest of the laptop is only approx 6mm thick, can anyone
see a reason why this should result in a laptop with a thickness of
greater than 12mm at its highest point? i can't think of one, but i'm
not a mechanical engineer: i just have good 3D spatial awareness, not
knowledge of materials strength etc.
the principle is this:
* the screen being only 4mm thick requires a case of appx 0.5mm to 1mm
thickness to hold it.
* the rounded hinges left and right support the screen appx 30mm
*above* where a laptop screen normally sits
* the EOMA-68 CPU Card and connectors along the back edge protrude
above the keyboard level
* the hole in the screen case fits neatly over the CPU Card when closed.
there's masses of space at the front to put a battery (or two). very
thin ones from EEMB. left and right of the mouse pad. that way, the
keyboard can be recesses extremely low.
i really can't see any reason why the lower half which contains the
keyboard should be anything more than 6mm in height, possibly even
less.
total thickness when shut: 12mm, possibly 10. at the back, the
thickness is determined by the RJ45 connector + PCB thickness +
casework thickness.
