Charger costs missing????

Well, the AXP209 PMU does the Charging... either via USB OTG/VBUS or
DCIN... so technically there isn't a need for a wall-wart charger as it
could recharge via OTG.... and the charge circuit itself is all in the PMU
and just requires some current sense lines.

AAA/AA provide at best, about 0.2C - meaning that they aren't really any
good for providing more than a few hundred mA peak at a time. High internal
resistance and all that. Even a 2000 or 3000maH NiMh AA or AAA is no
comparison to a 'proper' battery.. most LiPo's can easily do 1C or 2C, and
unprotected ones can go all the way out to near 100C...
They are also probably 3 times the thickness for half the juice.. so would
not reliably work in a flat-pack setup
So whilst 'on paper' using the AA/AAA's is about the same - the reality is
that its a much much much reduced capability solution.
The 18650's are getting closer.. but really.. by then... you may as well
use a bulk purchased LiPo or LiFePo4 and be done with it (particularly
given the form factor differences)

And yes - shorten their life by about 50% in the process... theres a
downside to everything unfortunately :(
