Was thinking why not use the USB for console?

and a quick google turned up two interesting existing projects solving
that

U-Boot USB Gadget serial support:

The U-Boot changes most likely require a bit of tweaking for A10 U-Boot,
but the kernel part is generic assuming there is USB Gadget (device, not
host) controller support.
