I built RSEL6 on SheevaPlugs with 512MB of RAM. If you have reasonably
decent swap it's not a problem. My build path is on NFS and swap on
iSCSI, both going to the same server (big fat x86 box with 16GB of RAM
with ZFS).
Sure, some packages take ages to build (kernel takes a day or two on a
SheevaPlug, OpenOffice takes a week or so (haven't managed to get it to
build completely yet)). But the CPU speed is a bigger problem than RAM.
