 well the general idea was "just use pcmcia", but in the case where
there's no case...

 ... good point.  if you wanted to save on the cost of the PCMCIA
outer shield, factory install etc. etc. then having some
standard-positioned holes would be a good idea.  i think, leave the
PCMCIA connector though.  that would just mean having 2 holes,
defining the placement of them, and you're done.
