One of the interesting comments on /. about this is M$ having control
over Office applications. If enterprise users can easily move from x86
desktops and easily manipulate and interact with the same files on a
mobile ARM system M$ might get some traction. But again they are very
late to the party.
One the other hand Wintel has done a magnificent job of keeping ARM out
of the notebook/netbook space. Intel has also kept Atom designs from
offering larger displays and full features in netbooks.
I also still find it amusing when people say that they don't care much
for AMD since they aren't up to snuff to run their browser, email and
music/movie player or they are not fully compatible with x86 or something.
The tablet fad is wearing off and the banksters are choking off the
money supply to people engineered to purchase fads and status symbols
like the i-whatevers. Until there is a push back from the have not's or
have-much-less, IMHO low cost solutions that actually work and are user
friendly will be very popular.
