ok, progress so far:
* bari and i have been analysing the stuff received from wits-tech: it
contains schematics but no symbols, and the PCB layout is *only* the
DDR3-CPU bit (which is critical). tracks are 0.13mm width which is
pretty damn small.
* bari's kindly done a PDF conversion of the wits-tech schematics,
which contained more than we were hoping for i.e. pretty much full
schematics minus PCB layout but including DDR3-CPU layout
* original kicad schematics being morphed to look like the wits-tech
schematics (by hand by examining the PDF after using edif2kicad
resulted in a dog's dinner)
* corrections added to the kicad symbols including locating the TV-IN,
SATA and a couple of other bits
* tracked down datasheets for most components now - copies at
http://hands.com/~lkcl/eoma/allwinner
* located enough components (major ones) to be able to send off an
enquiry for mass-volume pricing to a very large PCB manufacturer in
shenzen.
* i've just worked out that you can drop pdf documents as http urls
into kicad, so i will back-fill those (anyone want to take that on?
links are at http://rhombus-tech.net/allwinner_a10/pcb/ please bear in
mind that some symbols are in fped so don't edit the .mod file duh
source at http://git.rhombus-tech.net/eoma). doing this would mean
that clicking on the documentation link throws it up at you in a web
browser, not massively ideal but better than a kick in the teeth.
still todo:
* fill in footprints for pretty much all the little capacitors and resistors
* rename all the components (argh) to match the wits-tech ones
* write a decent reliable two-way converter between an acceptable
orcad export/import format and kicad
i'd reallly like bari to be able to just take what i've got done,
here, and to be able to drop in bits of schematics with a degree of
confidence, _and_ also i'd really like the git repository to contain
like, y'know.... text files? instead of binary shit? that's y'know,
like, what revision control's for? :)
