If anyone knows of the Yubikey (little press button one time password
generator) ..
the lady who founded it on a shoestring needed to get some visibility for
it at the start and couldn't afford stands at the tradeshows (and only had
a couple of non working prototypes) so she used to go on her own to the
trade fairs (CES, CEBIT etc) with some brochures and her dummy prototypes
and hang around the stairs near the stands of big boys in the
networking and security players and used to grab people as they left their
stands ... shes probably reasonably attractive which i bet helps .. but she
was quite successful with this approach ... She had this Steve Gibson guy
(from TWIT:Security Now podcasts ) twisted around her little finger and he
used to generate so much publicity for her and yubikey from this :-)
What you guys could do is get some nifty double sided plasticised
flyers (harder to screw up and throw in the bin ;-) knocked up with some
mock up pics of the likely final board and connector and some key points
(costs and performance being one) on it and the projects ... and a couple
of people should go to CEBIT (only £30 a ticket) and hand them out and get
some extra visibility maybe
The Rasp. Pi launches anytime now (should have done by CEBIT in mid march )
and its created a big splash internationally and domestically (UK) .. If
you guys make sure you replicate (if thats what you want to do) the pi's
i/o interface then it pretty much should be compatible with this "Gert
Board" another of the Broadcom people has developed for the pi (that
way your kit can piggy back on it potentially) which interests a lot of the
beagleboarders, schools, hobbyists etc
hope it helps
