hi,
the hyson board looks really interesting .. it looks like theres may be
SATA connectors on the flip side of the board obove the rectangular box
lines ? ?
board only is particularly attractive as many of us will probably use it
"sans" remote and have tons of 5V2A UK/EU power supplies hanging around ...
the mele is a nice neat solution though with the spiffy case and SATA CADDY
:-)
be v. interested at this price especially if it has the SATA connectors
onboard and is of course easily hackable but at the end of the day
the shipping is the real killer for this kind of value for us in the UK :-(
in the UK we get potentially shafted with duty/VAT @20% or more and the
high shipping cost for 1 board plus we get shafted on top of this a "duty
collection" fee by the courier (so in the case of china post UK Parcel
force charge a large collection fee which is despite being technically
illegal for them to do this in the UK under the postal regulations)
Perhaps the best way is to ship a package of 20 or so boards to somebody
somewhere in the EU with lower VAT/Duty rates (eg Luxembourg) and then ship
them onwards within the EU with pretty reasonable insured postage and zero
VAT/duties/collection fees to be paid further on in the EU ... the high
china courier shipping (and any duty collection fee) is then averaged out
across the 20 boards ... this is a good bit of workload though for the
person in Lux etc .. but an idea maybe to get the benefit of board priceing
just over $40 ... theres enough waste in The EC we may as well try if we
can to use one of the few great benefits ;-)
