yes. i'm surprised that allwinner didn't realise this would be
inconvenient, esp as it's pretty normal for RALink ETH devices these
days to have on-board firmware (hard-coded).
in these circumstances, however, if it's _really_ irksome, there's
always USB ethernet dongles. equally as much an annoyance, but there
you go.

yes. The Plan is to rip the firmware out again, make it part of an initrd.
