I've uploaded new versions of the kernel and the installer images to
alioth. The changes are as follows.
kernel:
- now powers off the netbook (!)
- sound working
The new kernel can be installed by doing a simple 'apt-get upgrade'.
installer:
- will now install Lenny by default
Squeeze can still be selected during mirror selection after setting
debconf priority to medium
- will now use the correct custom repository on alioth when installing
either Lenny or Squeeze
- automatically registers the sound module (adds it in /etc/modules)
There is one fairly big issue with sound support: when playing a new sound
file the volume will always be at maximum.
To use sound, do the following:
- modprobe snd_soc_smdk64xx_wm9713
- install alsa-base and alsa-utils
- install e.g. vorbis-tools
You need to change a few sound settings in alsamixer to get sound:
- unmute "Headphone" (first control) by typing "m"
- unmute "Left HP Mixer Voice Playback Switch"
- unmute "Right HP Mixer Voice Playback Switch"
- unmute "Speaker Mixer Voice Playback Switch"
AFAICT there is only one other control (out of the huge set) that does
anything: "Voice Playback Mono". But the effect is weird and it is fine in
its default setting.
Cheers,
FJP
