well, i certainly downloaded it all (from rapidshare *spew hurl*) it's now at:
 http://lkcl.net/arm_systems/CT-PC89E/ct-pc89e-firmware.tgz

or, it will be in... 22 minutes.

i have NOT yet looked at it, just wanted to throw it up there asap.

basically, the key tarball is datang_epc.tar.gz, the name of which we
knew anyway from the strings on mmcblk0p1, but that's the archive that
literally gets unpacked blat into mmcblk0p2. presumably, it's
possible therefore to simply blat a debian archived distro in its
place, job done. that's something worth trying because as long as you
don't try trashing the u-boot or the zImages on the first partition of
the NAND flash, there's nothing to worry about.

i suspeeeect that zImage_dt_update contains a multi-file uboot image,
comprising a (slightly) complex initrd, as described and
well-documented on the u-boot wiki, which actually performs the
unpacking. i _could_ be entirely wrong about that.

but - first things: breakfast :) then machine recovery.

l.
