 penguin42 on #arm-netbooks points out that single-channel LVDS is
fairly "old" when there are exciting things like eDP and potentially
MIPI that will do much higher resolutions.

 i pointed out that if you look on panelook.com there are only 78
active eDP panels listed yet there are 2048 active LVDS panels in
production right now, and that any converter IC is going to be a huge
percentage additional cost when the target SoCs for this standard are
$5 and below.

 penguin42 then pointed out "what will the situation be wrt eDP in say
18 months time?"

 i'd be interested to hear peoples' thoughts on whether this standard
should be targetted at 18 months+ or whether it is reasonable to
anticipate that LVDS will remain the dominant standard for low-cost
resolution panels up to 1280x800 for the next decade.
