 a more indirect but quite important answer is that if a CPU card
doesn't have an on-board SD-card, then the one on the
tablet/laptop/engineering-board would be its backup.

 in some ways these schematics are a) proof-of-concept b) reference
design.  i've been going on about how an STM32F *can* be used - but
not until it's all put together will anyone actually believe it -
including me :)

achh - to do a proper test i'm going to have to get hold of an AXP209
and wire it up: turns out that i need a 2.5v rail for the op-amps, to
float their 0-voltage in the middle of a 5V range. fuuun.
