i approached nvidia's R&D group today, and a guy there responded
promptly and positively, it was quite heartening. he's making some
enquiries to see if we can be granted access to the limited supply of
CARMA dev-kits.

however you have to bear in mind that the tegra3 is scheduled to be
out in 2012 H2 i.e. over 6 months from now.

what they actually mean is that nvidia has put themselves "on the
queue" at some random fab (probably TSMC), they're probably 100th or
200th in line or so and they just have to sit tight and wait until
they get to the front of the queue.

as TSMC is named "taiwan semiconductor manufacturing company", *any*
taiwanese company is *AUTOMATICALLY* granted absolute absolute top
priority. nvidia is not a taiwanese company, therefore they, like
everyone else who is not a taiwanese company, is given second dibs.

they were lucky the first time round with the tegra2, because they
were very early. now there's loads of 40nm CPUs, they'll just have to
wait in line like everyone else.
