 ok, they're a taiwanese embedded company.  my partner marie says that
the cost of living is between that of china and europe, which is a 5:1
difference.  so, $2,000 from a chinese embedded company for a
motherboard to fit in a laptop (assuming an existing processor module)
would be $10,000 in europe or USA, and taiwan would be somewhere in
the middle.

 i've asked them if they can do a motherboard to fit into an existing
case, and if they can source the case for us as well.

 the module is certainly small enough to fit, whereas something like
the beagleboard or pandaboard it's a bit risky.
