i've spoken to them, twice. they ran a series of
increasingly-desperate excuses, each of which i answered, and each
time they added yet another excuse. it was really... odd. "oh you
cannot be on kickstarter if you are a company". reply "well i'm not a
company: this is for software (libre developers)". "oh then you have
to have a prototype" reply "but the whole point is to raise the money
to get the prototype done, just like kickstarter helped fund that guy
who did the little 8-bit games computer".

so i'm not entiirely impressed. also: this is going to sound really
weird, but each and every time i've had anything to do with the U.S. -
any negotiations of any kind, the people i approached have been very
very negative, to the point of outright hostile in many cases. now,
ironically, at least one of them appears to be out of business...
whoops.

anyway: in many ways, not having made deals with companies in the
U.S. means that there's no investors. there would be no way we could
use the CIC if there were investors - shareholders - who expected to
have profits and dividends paid to them.

soo... it's kinda a blessing in disguise.

i've thought about using bloomvc though - they're a little bit different.
