i don't know if you've seen it yet, but the "Embrace, Extend,
Extinguish pc" brand, notorious for signing a deal with the
microsoft-patent-deal-loving "xandros" linux distro, just made a
stunning new product, called the eEEeeeEePC "transformer". it's
basically a tablet with (HOORAYYY!) a 10.1in 1280x800 LCD and
(HOORAYY!) 1gb of RAM, that then has a keyboard dock with a built-in
extended battery (just like the alwaysinnovating touchbook).

down-sides:

* the hinge is at the back. the whole thing keels over backwards,
just like the CT-PC89E :)  i guess it doesn't matter if you're a big
company or a little one: the idea of putting a piece of concrete at
the front of the keyboard isn't too attractive, huh? :)

 * it's running android. this is surmountable, as long as asus
respect the GPL. and even if they don't.

* it's got that f*****g proprietary Tegra 250, the one that's produced
by that company that have refused, for fifteen years, to provide free
software with any assistance on their graphics engines. what's it
called... oh yes: nvidia.
