While checking my data for that last email, I noticed the PCMCIA standard for Type III cards is 10.5mm thick, while the EOMA68 standard is 8mm.
Luke, is this deliberate?
It seems like thinner limits user-facing connectors, and makes fan-cooled card designs a bit harder. OTOH, it does permit devices to be 2.5mm thinner -- I'm not a big fan of thinner-is-better, but it undeniably sells.
