Yes, my point was that having dual band WIFI might indicate something about the WIFI chip. Usually we get b/g/n, usually Realtek ones. SmartQ are using complete TI ref design and they use TI's WiLink for WIFI/BT/FM combo.

I hoped to find one which particular WIFI chip is inside those tablet.

But anyway, thank you, your note about AMPE quality and support might trigger my quriosity to get one of those for experiments.

"innovation" to the chinese tablet market (eg. first tablet to
have ICS, first to have an IPS panel, now first to have a quad
core processor, maybe they were the first to have an A10 chip as
well), and their quality and support is usually way better than
their competitors.

Regardless I'm also surprised that the i.mx6 Quad is already
within arm's reach.

WIFI chips are usually separate from the MCU in these chips, so
it's no wonder that it has one. They're usually connected via USB
to the MCU.
Could it be that they solder engineering samples? I suppose that
it is physically impossible for them to have so many ES chips,

Specifications claim quad core 1.2GHz with Vivante GC2000 -
this fits to the specification of imx. Also interesting is that
they support 802.11 a/b/g/n. TI have some own wireless chips,

imx6 is only available in developer samples at the moment i
think. You
can apparently buy pre-production dev boards etc.

several imx6 boards are launching in the coming months.
