To my best understanding A2000 is functionally equivalent to A1000, only
with a different external case.
The wireless on A1000 is an RTL8188CUS USB module. The antenna is a
crappy pcb trace and it's most likely worthwhile to look into adding an
external antenna. The PCB have pads for soldering an antenna cable but i
think you may also need to move a capacistor to cange from internal to
external antenna.

Video decoding is done by the VPU (Video Processng Unit). There is
libraries for accessing the VPU but mainly targeting Android and there
is very limited GNU/Linux support. Plus it's all closed proprietary with
no stated license and no public datasheet.
There may be a solution to this eventually, but hard to say when (if
ever).
